Tough question lol

For $79.00 it's not bad for a "stop gap" but....

I've just read Viper Lairs review on it.

Long story short, the 8VT880P Combo is a solid product if your needs aren't anything too demanding. From a budget standpoint, there is some pretty good value here, but if you go through a full system overhaul, the value diminishes as it does not cost much less than a 915P based board which outperforms it. Without saying it... enthusiasts should look elsewhere

Questions to be asked:

Is this so you can continue to use AGP and upgrade to a PCIE card later?
PCIE on this board only runs at x4, can be up to 20% performance loss compared to a normal x16 board.

How many sticks of ram do you have?
It will only take 2.

I think you'd be better off hanging onto your money and persevering with what you've got until you can justify a decent upgrade.

You're getting up to 40fps in GRAW, what resolution?

im a bit lost as to what to do it seems that the rest of my comp is ok when i upgraded about 6mnts ago all i needed was a decent gr card as i bought a asus p5p800 mb , 4 sticks of 512 drr 400 ram , p4 3.4 mhz socket 775 , i have been told that if i get pcix vid card i need to buy new board , ram , and of course a pci card , i cant afford to do allthat again, but if i spend $500 on an xfx7800 gs it will bring my system upto scratch but for howlong as i cant do anything else with it after that,so if you think an xfx card is ok for a fair while longer it seems to be my cheapest option , i run graw on 800-600 and all the settings on lowest they go or turning them off altogether ( makes the game look like gr1 with graphics turned down ). i know a littlebit about computers but not enough to know the finer details of hardware to know whats good or bad and the computer shops seem to tell you what they want to sell to you at the time sorry for asking and coming up with new questions all the time but i know i get an honest answer from you thanks mo

You don't have to buy new ram to move to Pcie.

Just a Pcie motherboard and Pcie video card.

As for the questions, no problem J.

Mo, I'm thinking of upgrading to that new 64 Insanity motherboard with PCIx and a 3.5 AMD.
Current rig is battling, I'll hook up the SATA properly and install some new DDR's to 800.

GRAW was runnng OK, but I think my juiced up Radeon 9600 with Omega drivers has re-installed DX7 over-riding the GRAW DX9c, and while it runs lubbly in everything else, GRAW isn't happening now.

Meantime, I can't uninstall GRAW on my current rig because I have the 1.10 upgrade installed, set up tells me to uninstall 1.10 it before it can uninstall the 1.6 version of GRAW retail. Where do I find the 1.10 upgrade in the system, I been looking everywhere.
[Eek!]

Decisions.....decisions lol

Intel have finally come up with an Amd killer, the Conroe

Amd have dropped the price on their cpus as they moved to AM2. You can pick up a 3500+ cpu for around AU$150.00 or an AM2 3500+ for around $180.00

Zac, the obvious question is "How much do you want to spend?"

Bo, I hope you're going to add a second video card to take advantage of the 2 16x slots [Big Grin]

THANKS Mo and Bo, (sounds like a radio double act). BUT,the mobo I'm looking at is an ABIT AN932x dubbed "Fatality - Born to kill" not Insanity, lol, this is an AM2 32-64 bit board with PCIx.
AMD 3.50 -nice to hear the price is down might head for 4.0, GE Force 7950GX2 1gb, 2x1gb DDR2-800, 1X 120gb double ata SATA disc drives.
That'll do for the next 3-4 years. [Roll Eyes]
Still locked out of my retail version of GRAW [Mad] [Bawling]

I've got it re-installed again with patches to 1.20 but can't see that Zeus rocket. End of mission 2, the tank turned up full of Mexican rebels.I can get close in behind the tank (where they are most vulnerable, so sent my squad over to the cantina to borrow an El Grande tin opener but they didn't have one. I just reloaded patches 1.10 and 1.20. I'll reload 1.6 again see if its in there.
My old rig should be able to handle it with a faster AMD processor and faster DDR, it handles 32 and 64 bit processor and is rated for DDR800.
I'll do the processor/faster card and upgrade DIMMs and not go through the hassle of a new mobo for now.
Running at 35fps last night will try tweaking the card up a bit further, Doing 447/223.
Tweak it until it cooks!

lol, Mo, will probably have to use the second slot one day, but for now the 7900 512mg has'nt bin tested by any of the games I'm playing, it gives 60 fps on all the games, BUT thats not the true reading, dont know how to open fraps up to give exact fps, but can still c the fish in da water lol

I've finished downloading drivers, vast improvement, just about to the end of third mission, where you cart VIP2 across to the Blackhawk, I keep getting nailed as I hit the deck, and the chopper racks off to someplace. I only have one digger left to cover me and I think he gets knocked off too.
Challenging game on hard mode.
Had the Zeus delivered on cue had me in there for a while.
Upgrade CPU on Tuesday, I'll get the biggest they have and leave the video card for the tim being.
